So they will be life to your soul And adornment to your neck. Proverbs 3:22
If this is not enough to bless us for a lifetime - we also see that the life of God is being poured not just into our minds and wills - but also our emotions. This is a twofold blessing to us. First, we are protected from having our emotions lead us. Too often we find that we are far more emotionally driven than Scripture and Holy Spirit led. We feel a certain way emotionally and we allow that "feeling" to be what leads us. This can be dangerous because I can speak personally of how often I just didn't "feel" like being a Christian in my attitude or actions. This did not come to me in that particular package, because I think it would be far easier to reject. It came to me in a variety of packages. I just don't feel like getting up and having my quiet time. I just don't feel like reading the Bible right now. I just don't feel like witnessing to that person. Then there are the feelings of anger, resentment, bitterness, and a host of other negative emotions that come in dealing with people. One area I don't want to forget in sharing these things is times when desires rise up within me calling for fulfillment. At times those desires run contrary to Scripture, yet if I walk only in my emotional state, I will find myself following those emotions into something that is sin. But there is another way. That way is learning to examine emotions with the Word - and to reject emoitons that will lead to sin and to choices that I will regret later. When we speak of emotions there is a picture that is very instructive. That picture is the one where we see the difference between being driven by emotion versus being led by the Spirit of God. When sheep are being driven - the one driving them is the butcher. He is driving them to the slaughter house - and ultimately to their death. The one who leads the sheep is the shepherd. When we are driven by our emotions - the world, the flesh, or the devil is most likely in control. They want to drive us through moment by moment feelings that we have rather than by the life of God, which would instruct us in what is right. The difference here is that one will drive us by whatever feeling is dominant in the moment, while the other will help us to discern between actions that are good or bad. We will discern that even though we may have positive emotions immediately by doing something - the long term effects will be much worse. In the same way we may be led by God to choose something that may not bring immediate gratification, yet in the long run will bring great blessing into our lives. Without the Spirit of God using the Word of God to lead us in the way of the life of God, we may make many foolish choices simply because we were emotionally driven at the moment to make them. There is also a wonderful way that God grants us emotions as well. As we learn to embrace the work of God in our emotions we will have times when we can release ourselves to wonderful emotions as well. Jesus experienced great joy as well as weeping and sorrow in the time He was on the earth. His was a wonderful example of how God works in us, even using our emotions as He does that work within us. Worship is a place where this can happen - having strong emotions toward God as we sing to Him and praise Him. Obedience can yield incredible emotion as we do the will of God and are rewarded for it with a sense that things are good. God may move us to great emotion in prayer - where we have seen in Scripture that people often weep and grieve before God as they intercede before God and let their emotions out before Him. All these are beautiful ways that God works in our emotions. As we are taught by His Spirit of His ways and know Him - these things can be embraced and even help us as we learn to live our lives for His purposes. How important it is to experience the life of God in our souls - and by that to experience Him in our emotions. We can choose to be driven by our emotional state of mind in what we do. To be driven in this way is a horrible way to live, for our feelings may swing from one extreme to another. To be led by the Spirit involves setting ourselves in a direction according to God's Word - and to submit our emotions to Him. He will help us to know over the course of our lives how to reject certain emotions that would lead us astray, and how to embrace others which will come as He guides us through life.

So they will be life to your soul And adornment to your neck. Proverbs 3:22
We are looking at how God gives us both instruction in theological truths about His ways and Himself and how these are used to make practical decisions in life. Today, we will look at how God gives life to our souls – and how this is manifest in God working in our will to choose His way instead of another way. Consider how God, who gives us knowledge is not just placing information into our minds, but is seeking to influence our wills as well. As we make choices - willing ourselves forward in life - those choices are bathed in a wonderful sauce that has both sound theology as well as sound practice as ingredients. Every choice has behind it the Scriptures and the ways of God as its foundation. Rather than shooting from the proverbial hip, we find ourselves shooting from "the Script." The Script I speak of is the Word of God - the guide for our lives that has been given to us by inspiration of the Holy Spirit - and now which is being taught to us daily by the same wonderful Holy Spirit as well. Consider for a moment a scenario where you are facing a decision. Imagine with me that in the midst of making that decision that a thought comes into your mind to act. As you ponder that course of action suddenly another voice enters the picture. The first thought may be appealing to your flesh - it may have all the benefits of the world attached to it - and it may even have the approval of someone you desire to impress. But as this second voice or thought comes into the picture - you are instructed that "willing" that way would be contrary to God's Word. Making that choice would in effect be choosing sin. Now you have a choice - a true choice between two things - God's way or another way. Which will you choose? This is how God's Word and God's wisdom works in your will. God said to Israel through Moses that God was setting before them life and death. This simply meant that they could choose the ways of the world - the ways of Egypt and Canaan where they were headed - or - they could choose God's ways which had been clearly taught to them in the Law. Moses said that a way of blessing or cursing was right before their eyes. Remember that often the way of sin is pleasant at first. It might taste good, feel good, look good - but later it is NOT GOOD! God's ways may involve not feeling so great at first - it even may involve saying, "No" to a desire that is strong within you. But God's work in your will is to fortify you with a knowledge of Him and His ways that will enable you to say, "No" to sin and "Yes" to righteousness. You will find life and power to make the proper choice. But, one thing to remember is that in the end - even though knowledge is there, even though a direction is made clear, and even though power is offered to complete the deal - you still must choose! It is a wonderful thing to see that God is wanting to work in your will. His sound wisdom and practical application will come to you as the Holy Spirit teaches you. He will come to offer instruction to you - and that instruction will inveritably involve a choice. You must choose His way - and until you do the fullness of that power will not be released. But know this - in doing this God has freed you to make a choice - and to be blessed as you choose His way. You are not in bondage to sin or self in these moments. You will choose - and He is working to help you choose sound wisdom to make that choice - and practical instruction to know how to carry it out. What a wonderful thing to experience God in this way! What a wonderful opportunity to do what is good and right. In those moments dear saints let me give you a biblical admonition - just do it! So they will be life to your soul And adornment to your neck. Proverbs 3:22
Solomon has told us that there are two things we must not let out of our sight. The previous verse tells us that these things are a lofty thinking about God given to us by His Word and His Spirit, as well as a way to take God's wisdom and flesh it our in wonderfully practical ways of living each and every moment we are alive. Now Solomon then tells us that such a way of thinking and choosing will lead to life in our souls and adornment to our neck. The two pictures given to us here are beautiful to see. The first speaks of God's life being poured into our very souls. Since the soul refers to the mind, will, and emotions, we see a beautiful work going on in the immaterial part of our being due to this wisdom and practical thinking. This wonderful work of God is that our mind is being educated by both sound theology and practical out workings of Who God is in our daily decisions. Thus our thinking is guided not by the world system, but by the Holy Spirit as He teaches us God's Word and ways. How does this work? It works as we choose the discipline of reading God's Word daily. As we read, we submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit Who then teaches us what is in the Word. As verse 21 has said, we are being instructed by the Holy Spirit in two ways. First we are being taught the deep, wonderful theological truths of Who God is. We are being founded upon sound wisdom from God. That begins with knowing Who He is and how He, as the penultimate, is sovereign over all things in our lives. We learn what Moses requested while on the journey of the Exodus with Israel. He asked, "Let me know Your ways that I may know You." (Exodus 33:13) This request gives us so much insight into how God gives us life in our souls - here speaking of the how He does this in our minds. As we read God's Word - the Holy Spirit helps us to know the ways of God - what He likes, what He dislikes, what He wants, what He commands - and a hundred different things like this. As we know His ways we will find ourselves also beginning to know Him too. As this knowledge about God becomes a knowing of God - our minds will be filled with the right information about this world and how to live in it. The knowledge we receive will not be given to us by the fallen society that has rejected God, but by the God who created it and wants it used for His glory. Is your mind being blessed and filled with the Word of God? Is God showing you daily the way to walk - and through that knowledge also steering you into His will? Are you seeing your mind being changed as you learn of His ways - and ultimately learning Who He is and What He deisres? This is the way of life - and it is how wisdom enters into our thinking so as to bless our entire lives. Turn to Him today - turn to His Word and learn from it - learn from Him. This is the way of blessing - and the way that will lead you to life in your minds. My son, let them not vanish from your sight; Keep sound wisdom and discretion, Proverbs 3:21
Two things are mentioned to us in this proverb - and we are told to always keep these things in sight as we walk through life. The two things mentioned here are sound wisdom and discretion. Because these are such important things, it would be very wise for us to define both of them. Sound wisdom is the Hebrew word, "tushiyah" and it means, the essence or substance of a thing. The place where we receive such foundational level wisdom is from God Himself. He is the ultimate essence of substance of all things. To know this and to think and reason from this is sound wisdom. When we embrace this world view of life - we embrace seeing all things from His perspective - and reason all things from the counsel of His Word. Here, dear saints is the very sustance and essence of wisdom. All other things are infinitely less than this and they are infinitely inferior to the wisdom and direction that God brings us as we turn to Him and listen to Him. We do this by studying His Word and doing so under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit. Do not let God's Word and the instruction of His Spirit depart from your sight as you walk in this world. This is a difficult thing because there are so many different things clamoring for our attention in this world. To listen to them and to heed them is NOT wisdom - and will lead to our lives being lived for that which is not the substance and essence of why we are alive. We will live a small life - and one that will not last. Staying focused on God and His Word is the way to live a life of meaning and purpose. The second word used here is discretion. This is the Hebrew word, "umezimmah" and it means, "to resolve to act according to the directions of God's wisdom. What is fascinating here is that discretion is setting our lives practically on the foundation of God's wisdom and Word. It speaks of taking the lofty purposes and intentions of God that come from the sound wisdom gained in His Word - and then using those to make every day decisions and plans which help us to live our lives according to His will. We must be able to take the information we gain in understanding God and His ways - and boil it down to practical application in our lives. If we do not do this - then all we have are lofty thinking and high principles in our heads with no action upon them in our lifestyles. Though it is nice to have lofty thinking - it is useless if it is not put to practice in choices every day. Solomon is telling us that God wants both lofty and deep thinking on Who He is and what He desires in our lives - as well as very practical ways of taking that knowledge and making it a part of our choices every day. This is truly the whole picture of Godly, wise living. It does not shun the foundational thinking that makes a worldview - yet it also does not make a wise and godly lifestyle a matter of mental exertion only. God has set the two things that will truly bless our lives here in front of our faces. We have therefore a choice - to embrace both the instruction in deep, wonderful theological thinking about life - as well as the very practical activities that will make that knowledge a part of how we live every day. By His knowledge the deeps were broken up And the skies drip with dew.
Proverbs 3:20 What does God breaking up the deeps and having the sky drip with dew have to do with walking in wisdom? These comments from Proverbs 3:20 are a part of two verses that speak of God creating the world. But they are also a larger part of an argument from the writer of Proverbs as to why we should look to God for His wisdom. His argument is that if God can do these marvelous things through the creation - then we should know that He is more than able to meet any need that we wil ever face. We read first here that by God's knowledge the deeps were broken up. The only other place a phrase like this makes sense is in Genesis 7:11 where we read that during the flood the fountains of the great deep bursted open. Later in Genesis 8:w we read that these "foundtains of the deep" were closed. The only other time in Scripture the "deep" is mentioned in this way is as a description of Israel walking through the Red Sea during the Exodus. It was by the wisdom of God that the Lord broke open these places where water was stored in the oceans. Some wonder where all the water came from that caused the earth to flood during the time of Noah - and evidently it came from rain and from huge undergroud reservoirs of water that were released when these deeps were broken up. Today, we are just beginning to be able to do deep-water drilling in the oceans. but the thought of going to the deepest parts of the oceans - and releasing huge reservoirs of water are beyond us still. But God, by His knowledge, broke them up and released all that water. God then turns from the massive in the realms of water, to the very small. It is also by God's wisdom that the skys drip dew. The dew is a fascinating thing to understand. This process happens each night as cold meets hot in the atmosphere - and the result is the condensation of water into dew. We can predict when dew will happen - but the wisdom that produced the process whereby dew happens is astounding. It would take generating the entire atmosphere and weather systems that function like clockwork around our globe. When you consider for a moment that God has dew forming pretty much 24 hours a day - every day we live - you begin to see the magnitude of having dew drip from the skies. What God is trying to get us to grasp is that He is incredibly smart - actually infinitely smart - really, He is the originator of all knowledge of all things - there is nothing He did not know, nor is there anything that He will ever NOT know. Therefore, we would be wise if we turned to the God Who can break open the deeps, as well as cause the skies to drip with dew. If Almighty God can do these things by His wisdom, do you not think He can handle whatever problem we are currently trying to solve without it? She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast. Proverbs 3:18
Wisdom is a tree of life. Today's proverb of the day informs us of that fact as well as how wisdom will help us to be happy if we hold fast to it and not allow the world or the desires of our own flesh to loosen our hold upon it. The tree of life is a thoroughly biblical thing from the beginning of the Bible to its close. We open in Genesis with the garden of Eden and the tree of life - and end with the tree of life bearing fruit on both sides of a river that runs through heaven itself. There are things in the Scriptures that are referred to as "a" tree of life - and then there are the references in Genesis and Revelation to "the" tree of life. The tree of life is a wonderful picture of Christ Himself - Who is the One who gives us life itself, while "a" tree of life is something that we should note - because it is a means of God blessing us with His life. Wisdom is described in this way. Wisdom is a tree of life to those who hold strongly to her. The statement here to "take hold" of wisdom comes from the Hebrew word "hazaq" which meant to be strong, to strengthen, to be courageous, or to overpower. When we take hold of wisdom, we are fastening upon it with strength and courage. We hold fast to wisdom as we use it to overpower other thoughts that might enter into our thinking that run contrary to Scripture or God's ways. She yields to us sweet fruits of life itself when we do this. But the opposite is true as well. When we let go of wisdom and prefer the wisdom of this world that is passing away - it will yield to us fruits of death. That is why it is not enough just to have wisdom enter our ears - we must learn to hear it and hold it fast with all our strength and all our will. There is a promise for us though, to motivate us to hold wisdom fast. When we do we are promised that we will be happy. The word for happy here is "asar" which means to go straight ahead, to advance forward, be blessed, or to be made happy. According to Zhodiates it was a figuative phrase that meant to follow a straight path in understanding which in turn will give us a single heart and will also help us advance in God's ways and paths. If we were to compare this with the Beattitudes in Matthew 5, we would see that the ways of God's wisdom always promise for us a state of being blessed. In Matthew the word for blessed, did not just mean a happy emotional state - but had the idea of being blessed because God is smiling upon us. Wisdom will bring us to the place of knowing God's favor and His smile. That is why we need to hold fast and hard onto wisdom. It is the way to a life blessed by Almighty God - and as such is the best way to life. Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. Proverbs 3:16
Wisdom has many benefits for the one who chooses to walk in it. That is what we are told today in Proverbs 3:16. We are told that God promises by long life and riches and honor to the ones who walk in wisdom. First let us look at the promise of long life. When a man walks in God's wisdom he will walk in peace. Wisdom counsels us to be made right with God and to cooperate with Him throughout life. This will calm a man and grant him a longer life. Reports come back regularly explaining to us that a peaceful, tranquil heart is great for our health. Stress will kill a man in the end - because stress will release toxins in the body and cause the heart to have to work much harder than it usually does. Wisdom will also offer us long life because wisdom calls us away from the excesses of the wicked. Having embraced a life of moderation and temperance, we will be spared much of the difficulty that comes from the varied gluttonies of life. We are also told that wisdom will give us riches and honor. Throughout the book of Proverbs we read tremendous amounts of wisdom in regard to our finances and how we should operate in business. Having talked with several of the successful businessmen in my own congregation, they have assured me that reading the proverb of the day - and learning to follow the counsel of Scritpure on financial matters will yield wealth. I'm not talking about the kind of wealth that the health, wealth, and prosperity people tout. This is the wealth that acrues due to wise management of our money and our lives. Wisdom also holds in her hands honor for us. The word for honor here is "kabod" - which speaks of a weightiness in life. This speaks of honor given by others as they see how we live. Wisdom will help us to live an honorable life in the sight of God, which in turn will move the Lord to grant us honor in the sight of others - and most importantly, in His sight. Rather than health, riches, and honor due to a "name it, claim it" type of mentality, this passage is truly teaching us something amazing. Just for the fun of it - I would call this the "learn it, spurn it" mentality. As God teaches us wisdom - we learn from Him of His ways and paths. He instructs us in the way that we should go - and that has reference to everything we do and everything we are. We learn it - in His presence - by His Spirit - as He endeavors to educate us teaching us His Word. As we embrace His ways - we also learn to "spurn it." This simply means that the more we learn of wisdom and of God's Word, the more we will spurn the ways of this world, and the ways of our own flesh. This will help us to truly be blessed in all that we do. Before I finish with this proverb, I would like to show a couple of New Testament verses that reiterate this same principle for us - just using slightly different language. First is what Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Here in very simple language is the pursuit of wisdom. We learn to seek as the first order of business in our daily lives, His kingdom and His righteousness. Said another way, we seek for His rule and reign over every thought and action, and we have Him determine what is right in every situation. Truly this is wisdom - and the promise we receive? He will add all the other things (here refering to food and clothing) to us. The second verse is 1 Timothy 4:8, ". . . for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." Here we see that wisdom will always lead us to live a godly life. This godliness is profitable here and now, as well as throughout all eternity. Seeing this, it is my hope for both you and me that we will embrace her - embrace wisdom - and find that in both hands there awaits us great blessing from God. For her profit is better than the profit of silver And her gain better than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her. Proverbs 3:14-15
In determining the value of something people often turn to how what they are valuing compares with other things we know are of great worth. That is what Proverbs does today in seeking to help us grasp just how valuable wisdom is to us every day. There is a profit to wisdom - a payoff. When we learn to live lives that ask what the wise thing we should do - we will receive the rewards that wisdom has to offer to us. Then the comparisons begin in our passage. Wisdom has a greater profit than silver - and a better gain than gold. I'm writing this in 2010 and those who made a decision just a couple of years ago to purchase silver and gold know what kind of profit they got from it. They know that our federal government has played fast and loose with monetary policy and our economic position has suffered because of it. Our paper money has lost its value as the government continues to spend at a rate that cannot be maintained. Thus our money is being deflated as they print more to spend more - without anything to back it. But gold and silver are commodities that have real value to them. Thus while our paper money is floudering - gold has almost doubled in price. Silver is not far behind - because they have real value. There is something else that has real value - wisdom. When we have it - we will find amazing profit in keeping wisdom and following hard after wisdom. Wisdom is also more precious than jewels. These are ornamental jewels like rubies, diamonds, sapphires, and other valuable jewels. Once again these items are rare - and are considered to be worth something. But what Proverbs is saying to us is that wisdom is more "precious" than jewels. Here we are not talking about profit as with silver and gold, but we are talking about how something it valuable to us. Wisdom is personally valuable to us. We know that if we wear wisdom in our lives - people will notice. Just like a woman with a large diamond hung around her neck is noticed, so also is the man or worman who lives wisely noticed. The jewels are considered beautiful - even though they are only rare hunks of rock. Wisdom adorns us with God's character, with godliness, with a holy life - and are the most beautiful things that we can have because they last long after the physical jewels of this life are gone. How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding. Proverbs 3:13
Happy is the man who finds the wisdom of God. That is what our proverb says today. But the happiness spoken of here is no mere good mood - it is a happiness rooted in spiritual things - in knowing God Himself. The word "blessed" here is the Hebrew word "eser" and it means to be in a state of bliss. This word is almost exclusively used in a poetic context and is usually used in an exclamation. "Oh the blessedness!" would be the normal expression using this word. This word is used several times to speak of the joy and blessedness - indeed the bliss enjoyed by someone who has a relationship with God. Here though, the word is referring to one who finds the wisdom of God. Even more so, the blessing refers to one who not only gathers wisdom from God - but who can use it to discern. He gains understanding from God's wisdom entering his life. When we find wisdom, we learn to turn from the worldly ways of this present life and seek out God's answers for things. We come to see life from the perspective of God. What God thinks and what God wants becomes paramount in our lives. Oh, what a blessing comes when we finally turn from our own selfish thinking and learn to look at things His way. We turn from the insanity of a self-driven life to a life guided and led by a loving God who knows what is best in every situation. When we gain understanding we are even more blessed. This is the ability to discern - to distinguish between things that differ. We can know the difference between our will and God's will. We know what is right and what is wrong. We can discern between two or three different options which one is God's will. In a world where we have to make hundereds of decisions each day - that is a wonderful gift. If you have found wisdom - and are gaining understanding - don't take it for granted. It is a rare thing for a man to have wisdom come into his life. It is an act of God's grace and mercy. For this you should fall to your knees and thank God for such a fantastic gift! The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, and by understanding established the heavens. Proverbs 3:19.
Those who ascribe the establishment of the heavens and the earth by random processes as prescibed by the theory of evolution really do have a problem when it comes to the shear volume of evidence that says to us that there is an intelligent design in all of creation. Wisdom itself tells us that there has to be a great intelligence behind all that we see and know in creation. Anyone who has studied the human body would go beyond saying it was just intelligence to say that what we have in creation is nothing less than divine genius. Those of us who ascribe to the Lord God the foundation of the earth and the establishment of the heavens have no such problem. Solomon tells us in Proverbs 3 that it was God who by His wisdom founded the earth. The glorious intricate design of our world is no miraculous accident. God's wisdom is inscribed on every aspect of what he has made. There is such a wondrous design in what we see on the earth that it should amaze and astound us. Just looking at the human eye should adequately blow our minds. Let me share with you some of the astonishing information concerning the human eye. Oue eyes contain a self-adjusting aperture, an auto-focus system, and inner surfaces surrounded by a dark pigment so that there is a minimal amount of light that scatters. The sensitivity of these aspects of the eye allows it to adjust to 10 billion-fold changed in brightness that come to it every day - while its circuitry of nerves enables it to automatically adjust and enhance contrast in what is detects. The ability of the eye to analyze color is breathtaking. The eye can distinguish millions of shades of color while also allowing it to adjust to lighting conditions such as incandescent, fluorescent, as well as natural light that would require a photographer to change filters, films, and housings on his camera. The eye does this instantaneously. All this works together to produce a depth perception that is beyond the range of anything we can imagine designing. In spite of all the technology that we currently have, engineers are still unable to design a system that can calculate the exact force necessary for an athlete to shoot and make a basket, on the run, from 25 feet away, in a split second. Take a moment to consider the array of nerves, sensory cells, lens, muscles, and tissue in the eye. Light passes through our cornea to deal with issues of focus. The cornea is a living, one-cell thick tissue that requires food and oxygen. This is gets through tears that are produced by our tear glands. These tear glands not only feed and lubricate our eyes, but they also inject enzymes into our tears that kill bacteria in our eyes. As light passes through the iris - a lens further focuses the light, fine-tuning it as it passes through until it strikes the pigmented retina. This God-given aperture is so intricate that we can make a biometric scanner that can serve for identification purposes. Whereas our fingerprints only have 35 measurable characteristics, the iris has 266 of them. This makes the chance of any two people having matching irises statistically impossible. It is a one in 10 to the 78th power that this could happen. Then we come to the retina itself. It has 127 million photovoltaic receptors. Only 7 million of these are used to provide color awareness and fine detail. The information gained from these 127 million receptors is then converted from light to electricity and then transmitted to our brain's cortex along one million nerve fibers in our optic nerve. How sensitive is this retina? As little as one photon can trigger these cells. Since a flashlight can fire 10 to the 18th power photons per second, this means that the eye can see a solitary candle flame from as much as 30 miles away. A scientist, trying to describe what happens in our eyes used this illustration to help us understand the incredible things that are happening in our eyes every second of every day. If you were to thnk in terms of a camera that could shoot incredible amounts of pictures, it would require a camera to take 100 photos per second for every one of the one million fibers of the optic nerve. Each of these individual 100,000,000 photos would be represented mathmatically by 50,000 nonlinear differential equations that would have to be solved simultaneously. Taking into consideration two eyes and only allowing five synaptic connections to other nerves from the retina to the cortex of the brain - it would require a 1983 Cray supercomputer a hundred years to process the information that our eyes can transmit every one hundredth of a second. What is even more amazing that all this is the fact that men posing as serious scientists expect us to believe that chance alone produced such a precision instrument with its interdependent parts. Remember in saying this that a retina would be useless without a lens and a lens without a retina. Even Charles Darwin himself said this about the human eye when he considered the possibility of it evolving from a single cell. "To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, culd have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree." Mr. Darwin, we agree with you 100% that when looking at just the human eye we also find your theory absurd as well. What is even more mind-blowing to me while writing this is that we've only examined the human eye. It declares the glory of God - just as the Bible tells us the heavens do. It was by understanding that God established them - and when trying to consider both their vastness and intricacy we would once again ourselves lost in wonder, amazement, and awe. But then again - that is exactly what wisdom desires for us to do. |
Proverb a DayEach day, we'll take a look at a verse from the chapter of Proverbs for the day. Our hope is to gain wisdom each day - and from that wisdom - to have understanding to make godly decisions in the throes of everyday life. Thank you for visiting our website!
